"With something like two dozen acts, it’s hard to choose a favorite, but Cuckoo’s Nest would have to be near the top of my list." Bob Doran, The North Coast Journal, July '03

"That's some pretty hot stuff!" Brooks Otis, musician & owner of Wildwood Music, May '04

"It's hard to believe the caliber of musicianship this group possesses. It's as if they channel the spirit of Django Reinhardt, truly encapsulating that 'Hot Club,' 'Gypsy Jazz' sound. They are a joy to watch and a treat to listen to." Cliff Berkowitz, KHUM Radio, June '04

Cuckoo's Nest Jazz Sextet

Welcome to the world of Cuckoo Jazz! We sincerely look forward to hearing from you and meeting you, so be sure to catch us at our next gig or maybe on one of our CD's. Be prepared to get 'Cuckoofied!' Please enjoy all of the features at our web-site and again, be sure to contact us soon!

Rather than following in the imitative footsteps of so many other Django Reinhardt cover bands, Cuckoo's Nest has achieved its own unique and original jazz sound by the thought provoking combo of two violins, two guitars ,bass and percussion, adding an innovative twist on the original Hot Club experiment. Another twist in the mix is the thoroughly modern jazz approach this sextet brings to any of the vast repertoire they play. Whether it be original Hot Club tunes, Coltrane inspired avant-garde or genuine Hungarian gypsy folk tunes, the band swings hard. This band delivers a spunky originality that reflects the collective experiences of the six gleaned from international period instrument performances, bebop excursions, Coltrane attitudes as well as the support of a healthy vital local community of live music lovers. Please go see some live music as soon as possible, and support your performing musicians!!
